Audit finds Several Deficiencies at the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office

Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission, known as (POST) has found “deficiencies” within the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.

An audit that was completed about a month ago reports that a deputy lied over the radio to initiate a pursuit and that a noncertified deputy assisted in the pursuit.

The audit says that Chief Deputy King hindered the booking process of an arrestee by alleging that the charge was incorrect. The audit alleges that this person was the chief deputy’s cousin.

The audit list complaints about noncertified officers working in solo law enforcement positions, including SROs.

The audit also says a man got paid for 86 hours during the pay period of April 30-May 13, but he is not showing an employment history with Grundy County.

These are only some of the issues that were quoted in the audit.
