Watermelons and Truck Destroyed on Sunday Night
At 10:35 PM Sunday, the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to I-24 westbound for a semi-truck fire. The truck was hauling watermelons and was burning mile-marker 167.
Mutual aid was requested from North Dade Fire. Haletown Volunteer Fire Department, North Dade, and Trenton Fire Departments extinguished the blaze.
There were no injuries, but the semi and load of watermelons were a complete loss.
