The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported several crashes on I-24 on Tuesday.
According to TDOT, there was a crash on I-24 eastbound around 11 a.m. near Whiteside, Tennessee.
Late Tuesday morning, two tractor-trailers were leaking fuel near the South Pittsburg exit.
I-24 eastbound was shut down on Tuesday morning between Kimball and the Tennessee-Georgia line.
At 11:45 a.m., TDOT reported another wreck. This one was going westbound on I-24, also near Whiteside.
Highway 150 was blocked on Tuesday afternoon by vehicles that could not move due to the road conditions.
Highways 41 and 50 were closed going up from Pelham towards Monteagle and Altamont.
Statewide, TDOT has responded to several hundred incidents. Officials are continuing to ask motorists to stay off the roadways if at all possible.
Multiple car accidents were reported throughout the area on secondary roads and state highways on Tuesday.
Earlier this week, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey issued a State of Emergency.
