At 10:47 Saturday night, January 20, 2024, the Dunlap Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the corner of Cherry Street and 2nd Avenue.
The fire started on an outside wall in the living room and traveled up to the attic.
The occupants were able to get out of the home, and firefighters retrieved a pet safely.
Dunlap firemen had to cut holes in the wood ceiling and get to the attic to extinguish the fire. Firefighters had to contend with the ice and a 5-degree temperature. The house received smoke, water, and fire damage in the attic. There were no injuries.
