Grundy County High School was placed on lockdown on Monday, April 8th, at approximately 10 am. This was due to suspicion that a student had a gun on campus. This prompted a verbal exchange between students in the hallway during a class change. All students, faculty, and staff at GCHS were immediately placed in lockdown.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene at the request of the high school SRO. After a joint investigation by the sheriff’s office and school personnel, the building was found to be secure, and the lockdown was lifted.
