The solar eclipse took place Monday afternoon. The moon covered the sun at around 91% in our area, and many gathered outside to witness the phenomenon.
The partial eclipse began around 12:45 PM CT and ended just after 3 PM.
We also had a solar eclipse in 2017, but the next event will not occur until 2044.
Due to the solar eclipse, Bledsoe, Grundy, and Sequatchie County schools will close at 11:30 am CDT. Other school systems in the area allowed students and staff to go outside to see the amazing event.
