On Monday, April 8th, at approximately 8:30 AM, the Whitwell Police Department responded to a four-way stop on Hwy. 108 and Spring Street. Once they arrived, police discovered that a man behind the wheel of a vehicle had fallen asleep at the intersection.
Whitwell Police woke the man up and found drug paraphernalia in the front seat. Police detained the man, who was identified as Justin Joyner. After a probable cause search, police located numerous drugs. They found 4.79 grams of Methamphetamine, 2.45g of Marijuana, two unidentified pills, and an unknown white substance. Whitwell Police also located paraphernalia with white residue.
Later, a DTF agent was called to test the unknown white substance. After testing, the agent said that it was positive for Fentanyl, weighing .23g.
Justin Joyner was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with possession of Scheduled II drugs, two counts, Possession of Scheduled VI drugs, drug paraphernalia, and possession of a legend drug without a prescription.
