Remember the Real Reason for Memorial Day

Before you enjoy your holiday, please remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for mourning the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. It is observed at national and local cemeteries by placing flowers and American flags on the graves of military personnel. Other ceremonies will also take place to honor the fallen.

Over 1.2 million men and women have died while serving in the military.

From 1868 to 1970, it was observed on May 30. Since 1971, it has been observed on the last Monday of May.
