High School Football Recap for Week 6

Homecoming court

Senior quarterback Tilton Pickett threw for 74 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 52 yards as Marion County defeated Brainerd 40-6 on Saturday. Sam Pickett totaled 98 yards of offense and three scores.

Marion (5-1) allowed just 41 yards, including 20 rushing yards on 20 carries during their Homecoming win. Kayley McLemore was named Homecoming Queen.

Bledsoe County (5-1) Senior quarterback Jonathan Thomas was 5-of-6 passing for 99 yards and ran nine times for 78 yards with a touchdown. The Warriors ran past Tellico Plains 34-0 on Saturday.  Austyn Rains added three TD runs and finished with 68 yards on 12 carries.

Will Machado hit the game-winning field goal on Saturday as Sequatchie County got past Coalfield on the road, 17-14.

Queen Arianna Robinson

The South Pittsburg Pirates roared past Innovation Academy 63-8 on Saturday night, improving to 4-2 on the season. It was the Pirates’ homecoming, and Arianna Robinson was named queen.

Due to weather conditions, the Whitwell Tigers, at 5-0 on the season, will travel to Copper Basin on Monday. The game will be broadcast on The River 104.9. The airtime is set for 4:45, and kickoff is at 5 p.m.
