Man Files Lawsuit Against Jasper Police Officers and Town Over Arrest

A Marion County resident, Jeremy Stacey, has taken legal action against two police officers, claiming they unjustly arrested him following a complaint from a neighbor regarding loose dogs.

Stacey lodged the lawsuit at Chattanooga’s federal courthouse, naming the City of Jasper, former Officer Lillian Lockhart, and Officer Cody Pittman as defendants.

In the lawsuit, Stacey is seeking $3 million in damages for a range of civil violations, such as unreasonable search without probable cause, malicious prosecution, negligence, false arrest, and false imprisonment.

Officer Lockhart, who is a focal point in Stacey’s legal complaint. Lockhart was indicted in October for allegedly being under the influence while on duty. It is claimed that she reported for duty intoxicated on July 26 and responded to service calls in her police vehicle. Lockhart is no longer with the Jasper Police Department.
