A rockslide set off a chain of events that led to evacuations and to the tracks of Chattanooga’s Incline Railway suffering fire damage on Saturday, according to the National Parks Service.
NPS officials say a final investigation report will come out in about two weeks.
It says the Mountain Beautiful Trail on Lookout Mountain will be closed until further notice.
There is no timeline for repairing or reopening Chattanooga’s iconic Incline Railway.
As of Tuesday, the Chattanooga Fire Department was still putting out hotspots near the railway, saying some parts of the fire are still smoldering within the trees and incline’s tracks.
