Shellmound Campground Relocating

Shellmound Campground, a well-established site in Marion County, is slated for relocation following the development of the Crown Harbor subdivision on TVA Road. Crown Harbor has acquired the property, granting the company full ownership of the campground’s current location.

Since its opening in the late 1960s, Shellmound Campground has become a prominent destination in the county. It occupies 26 acres and offers a range of campsites and amenities, including a boat ramp providing direct access to the lake and Tennessee River. Rose expressed concerns regarding the relocation, noting that the new site will be reduced to 18 acres, contain fewer trees, and lose facilities such as the access ramp, public docks, beach, and gazebo, contributing to its longstanding popularity.

Rose added, “Many people are unhappy because this is taking place. But when you’re not the property owner, you must deal with whatever they decide.”

The original campground remains operational and will close for the season as usual, pending the readiness of the new facility.
