Rev. Bill H. Lassiter

The late Rev. Bill H. Lassiter, was a United Methodist minister and served in many churches in the Sequatchie Valley before retiring from the Holston Conference in the early 2000s. After retirement, he continued to call Marion County home as a resident of Haletown and member of Holly Avenue UMC in South Pittsburg. In 2012, he published a book on religion and humor titled "The Lonesome Goose and Other Stories" published by Parsons Porch and still available at book sellers. Lassiter, a native of Smithville, TN, was a graduate of DeKalb Co. High School and Martin Junior College. He also received degrees from Tennessee Wesleyan and Emory. Sadly, he passed away in 2014 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. His family has left with us several newspaper articles he authored or published through the years and have given permission for us to share them with our readers.
