Whitwell Fire Hall Renamed

Friday, December 22, 2023, Whitwell Volunteer Fire Department dedicated their fire hall to honor the late Todd Brown. He was a firefighter and former chief of the department. The building has been renamed the Todd Brown Memorial Fire Hall. Members also presented his wife and mother with a plaque.

Fire Fighting continues on Whitwell Mountain

A massive wildfire started on Sunday on Whitwell Mountain. Many firefighters responded to the scene. Steve Lamb, EMA Director for Marion County, said the fire was still uncontained late Sunday night. Fires Broke Out on Tuesday in Whitwell after Downed Powerlines were Struck by a Vehicle

There was a major incident on Tuesday afternoon involving a Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative sub-transmission line and fiber lines in front of Whitwell High School.
