South Pittsburg Basketball Moves One Step Closer to the Big Dance

The South Pittsburg Pirates boys’ basketball defeated Sale Creek, 67-60, on Tuesday night at Van Buren County High School in the Region 3-A semifinals. The win moved the Pirates into the championship game on Thursday at 7 PM.

The win also guarantees South Pittsburg a sectional round game on Monday. A win on Thursday and the Pirates will play at home with a trip to the TSSAA championship round of the state playoffs, the elite 8, on the line. A loss on Thursday and South Pittsburg will have to travel on Monday with the scenario at state. Currently, the Pirates are 22-6 on the season.

The final eight teams play a single-elimination tournament at MTSU for the Gold Ball.
