On Wednesday, Marion County detectives were informed of explosives inside the city of Whitwell. The Chattanooga Bomb Squad was called in.
The bomb squad decided to use United Stones rock yard to properly dispose of the explosives, as the explosives were old and unstable. Due to their instability, they did not believe transporting them to the county’s firing range across town was safe. The explosives were disposed of properly with no damage to property or citizens.
