iPhone Phishing Scam Hits the Area

A new phishing scam is targeting iPhone users in Marion County and possibly other areas. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department says if you receive a text message like the one shown in the image at SvalleyNews.com, DO NOT click on the link to “unlock your account.” This could give scammers access to all your personal information!

They may even follow up with a phone call that appears to be from Apple, using caller ID to gain your trust. They might mention personal details they obtained from the link to further ease your mind.

Please share this information with your friends and family! Remember, if you ever receive a call or text from an unknown number or with a suspicious link, NEVER engage with it. Legitimate businesses will reach out again or leave a voicemail.
