Memorial Day serves as an occasion to remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The annual Memorial Day Ceremony, organized by Jasper VFW Post 6362 and its Auxiliary, was held Monday morning at the Marion County Courthouse Square.
Following intense storms that passed through the area on Sunday, crews promptly cleared debris, including a fallen tree near the courthouse, ensuring that the event proceeded as scheduled at 11 a.m.
The ceremony commenced with a presentation of colors, accompanied by patriotic songs that resonated throughout the square. Chief Master Sergeant Michael Tedford, who served for 30 years in active duty with the U.S. Air Force, including eight years as communications chief on Air Force One, was among the dignitaries in attendance.
County and state officials and members of the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard, local Scouts, and Cub Scouts were present, all contributing to this solemn and meaningful tribute.
