Eastdale Location Falls Through, Officials Seek New Location for Moccasin Bend Mental Hospital

The state is seeking a new location to construct a mental hospital, replacing the one at Moccasin Bend in Chattanooga. The current facility cannot be expanded due to plans to develop The Bend as a historic park. A 160-acre site along Tunnel Blvd. in Eastdale, Hamilton County, is no longer under consideration. Officials will continue searching for the best site for a new regional mental health facility.
