High School Football Recap for Games Played on September 26

The South Pittsburg Pirates recovered six fumbles in the second half, improving to 4-1 and dropping Red Bank to 1-4. The Pirates beat the Lions 31-7.

South Pittsburg senior Dayon Cooper carried the ball 21 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

Marion County 42, Monterey 0: The Warriors rushed for 316 yards as 11 players carried the ball in the game, and they built a 35-0 halftime lead on the way to the Region 3-2A road win.

Mason Mays led the ground attack for Marion (5-1, 1-0) with 89 yards on 10 carries. Brett Webb threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

Whitwell 49, Copper Basin 14: The Tigers remain unbeaten in Region 3-1A as they built a 35-0 lead by halftime thanks to a pair of touchdown passes from Talon Beason to Adam McDougal and scoring runs by Charlie French and Brody Harvey.

Sequatchie County won the highest scoring game of the night by beating Forrest 54-35.

Hunter Minton threw for 3 TDs and rushed for two more to lift the Indians to 4-2/2-0.
