Second Grundy County School Board Member Resigns

Grundy County has announced the resignation of another school board member, Eric Birdwell.

Birdwell cited, among other reasons, the backlash following his decision to vote against teacher bonus pay as a factor in his departure.

The teacher bonus was linked to Governor Bill Lee’s “Education Freedom Act” and required approval from local school boards to access the funds.

Two out of five Grundy County board members have now resigned.

Previously, in June, David Dickerson left his position as a school board member due to budgetary concerns and public response related to the teacher bonus issue.
