A first-grade teacher at Lookout Mountain Elementary School has been charged with abuse after her children reported to police that she bit and scratched them in the Ruby Falls parking lot. According to an affidavit, Chattanooga Police responded to the Lookout Mountain Police Department on December 12th following a child abuse report. A man informed officers that his two children had been with their mother, Heather Pecht, and that he noticed scratches and scabs on their hands when he picked them up. The children told him their mother was responsible.
The man claimed this was not the first incident, stating he previously attempted to report years of abuse involving his oldest child to police in Dunlap and Marion County, but says received no help from those departments.
Pecht was arrested on Friday, December 26, charged with two charges of child abuse.
