Update on Marion County I-24 Vehicle Crash

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has provided additional details regarding a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Friday, resulting in one individual sustaining critical injuries. The incident involved a 2012 Chrysler 200, which crashed at approximately 5:15 p.m. CST on March 27.

According to THP, the Chrysler was traveling eastbound on Interstate 24 in Marion County near mile marker 164 when it departed the right side of the roadway, collided with a guard rail, then subsequently veered off the left side and impacted a concrete barrier. The preliminary report indicates that the driver, a 62-year-old woman from North Carolina, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver sustained injuries and is not facing charges. Haletown Volunteer firefighters extricated the individual from the vehicle after she became pinned against the steering wheel. No other persons were involved in the incident.
