Man facing Murder Charge after Bridgeport, Al Fire

Authorities have formally identified the individual arrested and charged with murder following the discovery of a deceased woman inside a residence on Wednesday. A male suspect was taken into custody after a structure fire occurred in Bridgeport.

Chief Deputy Eric Woodall of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 62-year-old John Dunagan is the individual apprehended in connection with the incident. The Bridgeport Fire Department responded to a structure fire on 6th Street, where officials subsequently located a deceased female within the premises.

Dunagan was arrested in relation to the death and the fire. Chief Deputy Woodall stated that the man is currently facing a charge of murder. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending further investigation.
