According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Officer Adam Rose, age 38, was present at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Teague Road on Monday, August 3. While driving through the gravel parking area and attempting to make a left turn toward a lower section of the lot, Officer Rose entered a grassy area and struck a 13-year-old who was seated on a railroad tie.
The 13-year-old, whose name has not been released, sustained injuries as a result of the collision. Efforts are underway to confirm the teen’s identity and determine their current condition.
Requests for information regarding whether Officer Rose was on duty or operating a marked patrol vehicle have not been addressed, as Chief Ric Engle declined to comment.
The THP report notes that Officer Rose was driving a 2017 Ford Explorer, a vehicle commonly used by law enforcement agencies.
