William Cordell Cagle

A fatal incident occurred in Bridgeport on Sunday night, resulting in the death of a local resident and the arrest of a suspect on murder charges. According to Bridgeport Police, officers responded to a report of an altercation at County Road 476 at approximately 8:13 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a deceased male inside an apartment.

Members of the Bridgeport Fire Department attempted to resuscitate the victim but were unsuccessful. The individual was identified as Casey Jones Foster, 31, of Bridgeport.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies and investigators to assist with the investigation. Investigators located William Cordell Cagle, who reportedly admitted to assaulting Mr. Foster during the altercation leading to his death. Cagle was subsequently charged with murder and taken into custody at the Jackson County Jail.

Foster’s remains have been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy.
