Jail Disturbance in Grundy County brings in Police from Multiple Agencies

Saturday night, a disturbance occurred inside the Grundy County Jail that required additional assistance from outside law enforcement agencies and emergency personnel. Due to the nature of the situation, additional resources were requested to ensure it was brought under control quickly and safely. At no time was there any danger or threat to the public, and the incident remained contained to the jail.

This remains an ongoing investigation, and further details will be released by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department now under the direction of new Sheriff Virgel McNeese.

Responding agencies: Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper Police Department, New Hope Police Department, Kimball Police Department, Monteagle Police Department, Tracy City Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Grundy County EMS, Grundy County 911 Center, Constable Kyle Collins, Altamont Fire Department, and the other Grundy County officials and employees who responded and assisted.
