At 9:02 AM Sunday, the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department responded to a woods fire on Raccoon Mountain near the reservoir. Four Haletown units responded to the scene and quickly contained the fire before it could spread.
Elder Mountain Fire and the Tennessee Department of Forestry assisted in the firefighting efforts. Thanks to the hard work and quick response of the firemen, the fire was contained to one and a half acres. No firefighters were injured.
