Post Season High School Baseball and Softball Update

The Whitwell Lady Tigers defeated the South Pittsburg Lady Pirates on Wednesday for the Region Championship. Whitwell host Jo Byrns on Friday in the sectional round. The Lady Pirates travel to Gordonsville, also on Friday in Class 1A. The winners earn a berth into next week’s TSSAA State Tournament (Spring Fling) in Murfreesboro.

In the best 2 out of 3 sectional series in high school baseball, South Pittsburg defeated East Robertson 8-5 in game, but dropped game two, 7-3. The Pirates will host East Robertson on Thursday afternoon at 5. A trip to the Class 1A state tournament is on the line.

In Class 2A baseball, Alcoa managed to get past the Marion County Warriors in their doubleheader. The Tornadoes won game one, 5-1 and game two 4-3. This brings an end to an exciting season for Warrior baseball.

In another area region softball championship game, Bledsoe County lost to Megis County 5-0. The Lady Warriors will travel on Friday to Alcoa with the winner going to the Class 2A TSSAA State Tournament.
