On Friday morning (Nov. 22, 2024) around 5:40 a.m., the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department called for mutual aid for a tractor-trailer fire on westbound I-24 at mile marker 144.
The Jasper Highlands and Monteagle Fire departments responded. Upon arrival, a small brush fire was extinguished. The three fire departments attacked the Amazon tractor-trailer fire, which had various items inside, making it difficult to extinguish. The fire was brought under control around three hours later.
