David Lee DeWitt

On Thursday, November 21st, at approximately 9:30 PM, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department was called to assist the Dade County Sheriff’s Office in a vehicle pursuit involving a suspect who fled after being stopped for a traffic violation. The pursuit led to Tennessee Hwy. 134. The suspect then turned onto Tennessee Highway 156 in Whiteside.

The suspect, 49-year-old David Lee DeWitt, crashed his vehicle between 2 trees, making it hard for him to exit his car. In a tense standoff, DeWitt threatened law enforcement, claiming that nobody was leaving alive, and fired two shots.
