Snow on Monteagle Mountain

A powerful weather system came through the area late Sunday night. Some Sequachee Valley Electric Corporation customers lost power due to high winds, heavy rain and lightning. SVEC crews and contractors worked throughout the night to retore power outages as quickly as possible throughout the service area.

Several trees were reported down in Marion County, with one home receiving damage after a tree fell on a home and struck multiple vehicles. The Marion County Highway department reported that all trees that fell into roadways had be cleared by Monday afternoon.

Temperatures were in the 70’s on Sunday but plummeted into the 30’s on Monday bringing snow to area and closing some area schools.
