School Threat made toward Scottsboro Alabama School

The Scottsboro City Board of Education has issued a notification to families following the receipt of threatening messages via Snapchat directed at students at Scottsboro Junior High School, which triggered an immediate police investigation and the implementation of enhanced security protocols.

In a letter distributed to families on Monday evening, Superintendent Jennifer Williams reported that school officials became aware of the threatening communications at approximately 7:30 p.m., prompting the Scottsboro Police Department to initiate an investigation into the matter.

Superintendent Williams conveyed that, according to information from law enforcement, there is no current evidence of an imminent threat to the school. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure and in collaboration with law enforcement, the district increased police presence across campuses on Tuesday.

The superintendent also used this opportunity to urge parents to discuss responsible social media practices with their children and to stress the importance of reporting any suspicious messages to a trusted adult or school official.

Individuals possessing information related to the threats are encouraged to contact the Scottsboro Police Department.
