TVA Says Area Lakes Remain Open Despite Low Water Levels

The Tennessee Valley Authority says area lakes remain open for recreational use despite unusually low water levels across the region.

TVA officials say ongoing dry weather conditions and below-average rainfall have contributed to reduced water elevations at several lakes throughout the Tennessee Valley. Even with the lower levels, officials stress that lakes remain accessible for boating, fishing, and other outdoor recreation activities.

Boaters are being urged to use extra caution, particularly near shallow areas, exposed hazards, and boat ramps that may be more difficult to access because of the lower water conditions.

TVA says it continues balancing several priorities including flood control, river navigation, and hydroelectric power generation while monitoring weather and rainfall conditions closely.

Officials encourage lake users to stay informed about changing water conditions before heading out on the water this summer.
