Law enforcement agencies from Tennessee and Alabama joined forces Friday for the annual “Hands Across the Border” operation, a coordinated effort focused on public safety and regional cooperation.
The operation, held May 15, brought together partnering agencies from Marion County through Cumberland County in Tennessee, along with several agencies from Alabama. Officials said the effort highlights the importance of collaboration between departments working to protect communities across state lines.
Authorities said final numbers on citations and arrests were not immediately available following the operation. However, officials confirmed there was at least one incident in which intervention was made possible because of the coordinated effort.
Organizers praised the teamwork and cooperation demonstrated by participating agencies throughout the event.
“It is always encouraging to see such strong cooperation among our law enforcement partners,” officials with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “Anything we can do to help keep our citizens safe is worth the effort.”
They also thanked all participating agencies and personnel for their dedication and service during the operation.
In addition, organizers expressed appreciation to The Hooch for hosting dinner for those involved in the event.
