SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — Residents of Jackson County will soon receive emergency notifications through a new alert platform as the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency transitions from its longtime CodeRED system to SiRcom Smart Alerts.
According to a press release from Jackson County EMA Director Joshua Whitcomb, the new system is powered by HQE Systems, Inc. and is designed to improve the delivery of emergency alerts, weather warnings, and other critical public safety information across the county.
Current subscribers are encouraged to log into the new recipient account portal to review and update their information. The system allows users to update contact details, customize notification preferences, opt into additional weather alerts, and add multiple locations for targeted notifications.
While no immediate action is required to continue receiving alerts, EMA officials strongly recommend residents verify their information to ensure they receive timely and accurate emergency notifications.
The new platform also introduces several additional features, including:
- Easier and more functional needs registration
- In-home storm shelter registration
- Real-time public alert feed access
- Expanded targeted emergency messaging capabilities
- Integration with outdoor warning sirens
Jackson County EMA says the upgrade is intended to improve reliability and provide residents with greater control over how they receive emergency information.
Residents can learn more about the new alert system and register for notifications through the Jackson County EMA website.
EMA officials emphasized that the move to SiRcom Smart Alerts is aimed at ensuring residents receive critical information quickly when severe weather, public safety incidents, or other emergencies occur.
“This transition is a direct move to improve reliability and ensure residents receive critical alerts when it matters most,” the agency said in its announcement.
