The Marion County Sheriff’s Department says a missing 16-year-old who was the subject of a public search has been located safe and sound.

According to the sheriff’s department, the teen has been found and is safe.

Authorities announced the update Monday and thanked the public for its assistance and concern during the search.

No additional information was immediately released.

MARION COUNTY, Tenn. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old.

According to the sheriff’s department, the teen was reported missing on Monday, June 8.

Described as a black male, being approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds.

Authorities say they were last seen wearing black sweatpants and a camouflage hoodie and may be carrying an orange-and-green backpack featuring cartoon characters.

Anyone who has seen the teen or has information about their whereabouts is urged to contact Marion County Dispatch at 423-942-2525, your local police department, or 911.
