DUNLAP, Tenn. — Sequatchie County Schools has announced several personnel changes ahead of the 2026-27 school year, including new leadership for the district’s band program and a new principal for the Alternative School.
The district recently named Dr. Timothy L. “Tim” Ellison as the new Director of Bands for Sequatchie County Schools. Ellison brings two decades of professional experience in music education and leadership to the position.
According to the district, Ellison holds a Bachelor of Science in Religion from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His graduate studies include a Master of Music degree from Georgia State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Throughout his career, Ellison has taught music students in grades 5 through 12, as well as at the collegiate level, in multiple states. School officials said his experience and leadership will help continue the growth and success of the district’s music programs.
“Dr. Ellison brings twenty years of professional experience and is ready to continue and join in the work of creating a positive, lasting, and musical impact in the Sequatchie Valley,” the district said in a social media announcement.
Joining Ellison in the music program will be Levi Moore, who has been named Assistant Band Director and will also be joining the staff of Sequatchie County Middle School.
Moore has served Sequatchie County Schools for the past two years as an assistant at the Alternative School, where he helped foster a positive and rehabilitative learning environment. Music has remained a significant part of his life, including serving as Horn Captain at Lafayette County High School in Mayo, Florida, and performing as first-chair saxophonist in the North Florida Community College Jazz Ensemble.
Moore currently plays saxophone at Word of Life Assembly of God and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Music Education at UTC.
“I look forward to serving families, the community and the students themselves,” Moore said. “I look forward to an exciting year of music.”
In another leadership announcement, Sequatchie County Schools named Jeff Baker as the new Alternative School Principal.
Baker brings more than 25 years of experience in educational leadership to the role. Most recently, he served at Sequatchie County Middle School, where district officials said he played an important role in supporting student achievement, school improvement efforts and a positive school culture.
“Mr. Baker looks forward to serving students, families, and staff in his new role as Alternative School Principal and continuing to make a positive impact in the community,” the district said.
The announcements represent a significant transition for Sequatchie County Schools as administrators prepare for the upcoming academic year, with new leadership in both the district’s music programs and Alternative School.
