Gas Prices Continue Falling Across Tennessee Valley; Local Drivers Finding Prices as Low as $3.42 Per Gallon

Drivers across the Tennessee Valley are seeing some welcome relief at the pump as gasoline prices continue to decline.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price of regular gasoline in the Chattanooga area has fallen by 26.1 cents per gallon over the past week, with the metro average now sitting at approximately $3.67 per gallon with some stations reporting prices as low as $3.30 per gallon. Meanwhile, the highest-priced stations in the area remain well above $4 per gallon, creating a spread of more than a dollar between the cheapest and most expensive fuel options. Prices are also down compared to a month ago as oil prices and wholesale fuel costs continue to ease.

Motorists in Marion and Sequatchie counties are finding prices that are generally in line with—or in some cases below—the Chattanooga average as of Sunday afternoon.

In South Pittsburg, the lowest reported prices on Sunday were $3.65 per gallon at Lotto Mart and Andy’s Market, while several other stations, including Raceway, Shell in Kimball, and Kanku, were reporting prices around $3.69 per gallon while drivers could find gasoline for $3.59 per gallon at Gas ‘N Go in Kimball. The Shell station on Martin Springs Road in South Pittsburg was among the higher-priced locations at $3.79 per gallon.

In the Jasper area, Circle K, Speedway, and Love’s Travel Stop, were reporting prices of $3.65 per gallon, while MAPCO was listed at $3.68.

Sequatchie County drivers were seeing some of the lowest prices in the region. Murphy USA in Dunlap was reporting regular gasoline at $3.42 per gallon, while Exxon was listed at $3.49 and Circle K at $3.52. Higher-priced stations in the county included Shell and Valero, both reporting prices near $3.79 per gallon.

Meanwhile, motorists in Whitwell were generally paying more than drivers elsewhere in the valley. Raceway and BP stations in Whitwell were both listed at $3.79 per gallon, while Castle’s Grocery was reporting $3.83 per gallon.

AAA’s latest data shows the Chattanooga metro average at roughly $3.47 per gallon, down from $3.71 a week ago, reflecting the broader downward trend across Southeast Tennessee.

GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan said falling oil prices and improving market conditions have helped push prices lower in recent weeks. However, he noted that gasoline markets remain sensitive to international events, refinery issues, and seasonal demand, meaning fluctuations are still possible as the summer travel season gets underway.

For now, drivers in Marion and Sequatchie counties are benefiting from some of the lowest fuel prices seen in several weeks, with Dunlap currently offering the cheapest reported gasoline in the region reported on here at $3.42 per gallon.
