Wanted Man Arrested After Scottsboro Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — A 30-year-old man wanted on an active warrant was arrested after a traffic stop in Scottsboro led officers to the discovery of methamphetamine and other suspected narcotics, according to police.

The Scottsboro Police Department said officers conducted a traffic stop around 8:18 p.m. on May 30, 2026, in the area of Willow Street and Tupelo Pike for an equipment violation. During the stop, officers identified the driver as Uriel Becerra Martinez and determined he had an active warrant through the Scottsboro Police Department.

Police said Martinez was taken into custody on the warrant, and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of approximately 3.3 grams of methamphetamine. Officers later located additional suspected narcotics on Martinez, including approximately 1.8 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana, commonly known as spice.

Martinez was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail for processing before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail.

Authorities charged Martinez with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance (spice).

No additional information about the warrant or the investigation was immediately released.
