The assault case against a former Sequatchie County elementary school teacher accused of physically assaulting a special needs student has been dismissed following action by the Sequatchie County Grand Jury.

Former Griffith Elementary School teacher Holly Condra was arrested in August 2025 after an investigation by the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities alleged that Condra physically assaulted a then 9-year-old special education student while in a classroom at the school. Following the incident, school officials terminated her employment.

Earlier this year, the case was bound over to the Sequatchie County Grand Jury after a judge found sufficient cause for it to move forward. At the time, family members of the student expressed hope that the case would proceed to trial.

However, according to the Sequatchie County Court Clerk’s Office, the grand jury determined there was insufficient evidence to move the case forward and declined to return an indictment against Condra, resulting in the dismissal of the criminal charge.

No additional criminal charges have been announced.

This remains a developing story, and we will share additional details as they become available.
