The program, called “The Summer of IMPACT,” begins June 8 and will feature a variety of student-led classes at the IMPACT Learning Center in Scottsboro. Organizers say the initiative is designed to make learning fun, welcoming, and accessible for the entire community.
Classes are expected to include activities such as friendship bracelet making, journaling, creative writing, scrapbooking, and other hands-on creative experiences. Some sessions will focus on children and teens, while others are aimed at adults looking for a fun way to stay engaged and learn something new during the summer months.
According to IMPACT Learning Center Director Amanda Sparks, the program is centered around the idea that students have valuable talents worth sharing with the community. Student instructors entering the 11th or 12th grade, along with college students, are being encouraged to lead classes based on their own interests and skills. Participating student teachers will receive community service hours and certificates of service.
Organizers say class schedules, registration information, and additional details will be released online soon through the organization’s website and social media channels.
IMPACT Learning Center, based in Jackson County, Alabama, provides educational and workforce development opportunities throughout the region and supports programs ranging from early childhood literacy to career readiness initiatives.
