A now former athletic trainer for Sequatchie County Schools was arrested last Friday after officers found images of child pornography and sexual acts with animals on his cell phone.
District Attorney Courtney Lynch requested an investigator look in to reports that Donald Brent Oliver committed sex crimes against children.
According to the arrest report, Oliver gave written consent for the investigator to complete a forensic download of his cell phone which revealed several photos of animated child pornography as well as several images of Oliver and other adults engaging in sexual acts with animals.
District Attorney Lynch says Oliver is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual activity with animals.
Oliver, who was hired by the school district in 2024, was immediately terminated from his position with the school district.
The school system sent out a memo to parents that said, in part…
“We have been working in close coordination with the police on this situation, and the individual is no longer employed by the school district. Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot share further details at this time.
We are grateful to those who came forward to report this matter, Student safety and wellbeing are always our highest priority. We encourage all parents and guardians to have open conversations with their children about appropriate online communication and to remind them that if they ever feel uncomfortable about interactions with anyone, they should immediately tell a parent, teacher, staff member, or another trusted adult. As a reminder, school employees are mandated reporters.”
Oliver will appear in court on July 24th, 2025.
