Heat Danger returns for our area this week

As we enter another week of summer across the Sequatchie Valley, dangerous hot weather will return once again for the week.

According to Meteorologist Patrick Core with the Tri-State Weather Network, our official forecaster for SValleyNow.com, WEPG Radio, and WSDQ Radio; we’ll see the chance for pop-up midday, afternoon, and evening showers and storms through the week as highs will reach the mid to upper 90s for much of the week — with heat index temps feeling as hot as 105 by Tuesday and Wednesday,  but remaining high all week.

With the dangerous heat, it’s very important to stay cool and hydrated. With heat indexes reaching these dangerous levels, it’s best to avoid any physical work outdoors for long periods of time to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Experts say to try to avoid prolonged exposure, take plenty of breaks, and take a drink of water every 20 minutes to help aid with hydration.

The dangerous heat will subside by the weekend, despite Saturday’s temperatures remaining quite hot — into the 90s by afternoon.

We will continue to update your forecast daily here on the website from Patrick Core, and you can hear it every hour on 104.9 FM/910 AM WEPG in Marion County and Northeast Alabama and 93.3 FM/1190 AM WSDQ in Sequatchie and Bledsoe Counties.
