One person has died after an early morning house fire last week in Whiteside.
Officials with the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department say they were dispatched to the 2000 block of TN-134 at approximately 12:48 AM CDT on Thursday, July 10th, 2025.
The department sent two fire engines and a tanker along with 10 firefighters. Mutual aid from Sequatchie, Jasper, and Jasper Highlands were also called for support.
Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke billowing from the eaves of the structure and visible flames inside.
Crews forced entry into the home and made their way to a bedroom where they found one person dead. They worked to quickly extinguish flames and ventilate the house of smoke.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
