Sequatchie County High School Homecoming Parade to have Different Route than Normal

On 9/22/2023 between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM, the Sequatchie County High School will hold its annual homecoming parade. The route covers across the Sequatchie County Schools campus to Hwy 28, north to Rankin Ave, travels north on Rankin Ave to Church St., and ends at Harris Park.

There will be a change to the parade route this year, according to Dunlap Police. In years past, Rankin Ave southbound traffic has been allowed to continue moving; however, this year, both Rankin Ave northbound and southbound traffic will be blocked, and traffic will be rerouted via Main St. Keep in mind that due to the limited number of officers working that day, all roads leading to Rankin Ave will not be blocked. This could lead to some limited traffic entering Rankin Ave from side roads and parking lots, traveling south on Rankin Ave.

The Dunlap Police apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause; however, keeping children safe is paramount.
