EJ Wilson had a 111-yard rushing performance on just two carries and two touchdowns during Marion County’s 28-6 win over Tyner in Jasper on Friday night.

The third-ranked Warriors, at 7-0 on the season, will travel to Forrest on October 6 before an off week. This week’s Warriors game will be broadcast on The River 104.9.

Division II-A’s top-ranked Middle Tennessee Christian School traveled to South Pittsburg to battle the Pirates, the state’s Class 1A number one team.

All-state quarterback Kamden Wellington got South Pittsburg’s offense going in the second half after the game was tied at zero at halftime. Wellington went 8-of-12 passing for 90 yards and a TD pass, and he had another 61 rushing yards with a score.

The 7-0 Pirates are off until October 13, when they travel for a regional game against Chattanooga Prep.

Bledsoe County pulled off an upset of the night in the valley as they gave the Whitwell Tigers their first loss of the season. The Warriors’ defense held the Tigers to 114 yards of offense.

Ryan Scott caught a touchdown pass from Bennett McDougal for Whitwell’s only score.

The Tigers, ranked fifth in Class 1A, fell to 6-1 on the season as Bledsoe County improved to 5-2.

The Sequatchie County Indians suffered an upset loss to Fayetteville in Lincoln County on Friday night, 28-14. Sequatchie County fell to 4-3, and the Tigers improved to 2-5.
