One Local Team Remains in the TSSAA Playoffs

The South Pittsburg Pirates are the only team remaining in the TSSAA football playoffs as they knocked off Clay County 58-0 at Beene Stadium on Friday.

Quarterback Kamden Wellington led the way with 243 yards. He was 6-of-8 passing for 188 yards through the air and totaled three touchdowns.

Racash Kelly caught four passes for 167 yards and three scores.

The Pirates will host Gordonsville this Friday. Hear the game on The River 104.9, kickoff at 7 p.m.

Gordonsville eliminated eighth-ranked Whitwell 35-15 on Friday. The Tigers wrapped up the season with an 8-4 mark.

 

The sixth-ranked Class 2-A Indians of East Robertson upset second-ranked Marion County 24-7 in Jasper.

The Indians used a dominant second half, outscoring the Warriors 17-0. Marion County finishes the season at 11-1 overall.

Ethan Meadows ran for a career-high five touchdowns on Friday as Meigs County defeated Sequatchie County 42-28 in the second round of the TSSAA Class 3A playoffs.

Indian QB Sam Evitts rushed for a score and had three touchdown throws.

 

Hampton scored the winning touchdown with less than a minute to get past Bledsoe County 36-31.

The Warriors ended their season 9-3.
