On June 10, 2024, at approximately 2:35 PM a Whitwell Police officer observed a motorcycle traveling southbound on Valley View Hwy towards Jasper with no license plate displayed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the bike at Butterfly Ln. The bike pulled over and acted like it was complying. When the officer opened the vehicle door to exit, the driver took off at a high rate of speed Northbound on Valley View towards HWY 28.
The motorcycle then ran the red light at Hwy 28 and 283. The motorcycle pursuit continued to speed at over 100 mph recklessly operating and passing vehicles.
The pursuit continued North on Alvin York Hwy to a point where the motorcycle turned down New Hope Loop. The motorcycle then turned around and headed back towards responding units.
Chief Kenneth Seagraves with Powells Crossroads Police was blocking the entrance on the roadway but left room for the motorcycle to exit. The driver then slammed on his brakes causing him to stall his bike. The motorcycle driver, Bradden Brown then allegedly accelerated and rammed into Chief Seagraves knocking him to the ground.
The motorcyclist wrecked into a ditch directly after colliding with Chief Seagraves behind his vehicle. Brown, then attempted to flee on foot, but turned and faced the officers. He failed to comply with multiple commands to get onto the ground. Whitwell officer then deployed his taser to gain compliance on the suspect. While on the ground, Bradden continued to resist by not putting his hands behind his back and pulling away at officers.
The motorcycle then caught fire, EMS and fire were called to the scene. EMS checked the suspect. While in the ambulance, the Whitwell officer searched Brown more extensively and located aluminum foil with a black residue substance. Brown confirmed it to be Heroin and a piece of aluminum foil in his right sock. EMS then transported Brown to Erlanger.
Upon running Bradden’s information, it returned his license was revoked for DUI and had an active warrant out of Bledsoe County for Violation of community corrections.
Bradden Brown was charged with the following:
