Whitwell Police Fire Employee for Actions Unbecoming of a Police Officer

Whitwell Police Officer Tanner Jackson was fired on July 26 after an investigation revealed he used his badge to access a Parkridge East Hospital in East Ridge and brought a nurse a candy bar.

Jackson was wearing his police uniform and told the Security Officer that he was there to assist with a Certificate of Need (CON) patient and needed access codes to walk through the building. The woman said the Security Officer granted Jackson access, and he then walked through the building searching for her.

The woman told Jackson she was busy taking care of a patient.

The report says Jackson then walked to the parking lot to his patrol vehicle, which was parked right next to the woman’s red Ford Ranger.

The woman told officers, “This made her feel uneasy,” and she asked a friend to move her vehicle to the front of the building, away from Jackson.

Police in East Ridge reported that the woman felt that Jackson was stalking her.

She said the two had been messaging over Snapchat for approximately one week and had met in person multiple times.

Jackson was fired from the Whitwell Police Department for “actions unbecoming of a police officer and unauthorized use of a city vehicle.”
